Our client, Caldera, is on a mission to decarbonise heat. Their technology soaks up clean energy, storing it efficiently to provide industrial heat on demand. They have over 10 years of experience in the industry and have climate change as their key motivator for their work.

Caldera is now searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their small and friendly team at an exciting time to help build a first-of-a-kind demonstrator at their HQ, prior to a global roll out. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing electrical engineering designs for their industrial product and ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.

Senior Electrical Engineer, the role:

  • Leading the design and development of the MW scale electric charging system used to create heat
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure the electrical system integrates with other elements
  • Ensuring the design meets regulatory requirements
  • Writing technical and non-technical documents

Senior Electrical Engineer, the person:

  • Excellent theoretical understanding from an electrical engineering degree
  • Experience designing electrical systems
  • Previous understanding of relevant UK regulations
  • Ability to understand technical requirements, drawings, and product specifications
  • Thorough knowledge of connecting to the distribution network at 11kV, protection & control at 415V and currents in excess of 1,000 amps
  • Passion for making an impact in the energy storage sector

Desirable:

  • Good understanding of relevant regulation and compliance outside the UK
  • Previous experience of designing or managing the installation of solar PV, batteries, or diesel generators in the 1-20MW range
  • Commercial acumen and cost sensitivity
  • Interest in mentoring junior engineers

This is a permanent position with the option of 3 – 5 days per week. You will be based in Caldera’s Fareham HQ, or in the London office with a weekly visit to Fareham.
