The role

The difference our new Senior Mechanical Engineer will make

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. The role is to lead mechanical engineering activities including the management of reference designs, collaboration with contractors and the development of capability improvements.

Day to day, you'll develop design task proposals, requirements and verification activities from a customer statement of need, manage and distribute tasking throughout the team based on priority and availability and perform root cause analysis of failures to identify improvements. You'll also manage tasks from concept through to implementation following design processes and review and approve documentation and drawings to deliver a high-quality output.

Essential experience
* Experienced user of CAD systems for design, modelling and draughting.
* Chartered Engineer status or evidence of progression towards Chartered Engineer status.
* Strong mechanical engineering principles. A working knowledge of the following is beneficial: Metallurgy, design for manufacture, NDT, finite element analysis, corrosion mechanisms, dimensional inspection.
* Knowledge of repair methods of steel and aluminium cast or fabricated components.
* Communication through chairing meetings, written reports and presentations
