We are seeking to appoint a Senior Process Engineer on a permanent basis within the Central Engineering Department. You will be joining a talented team within the Product Engineering Design Group, in which you will have a key role in the development of fusion plant power generating systems.
These systems are used to extract thermal heat from a reactor and convert this heat into electrical power. Never before have such systems been developed, as a top-class process engineer you will analyse the reactor and process systems, aiming to implement simple yet effective changes boosting plant wide performance and efficiencies.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the balance of plant maximises net electrical power production from the nuclear fusion power plant, while also integrating power related factors within other work areas.
As the Senior Process Engineer, you will need to deploy forward planning capabilities, understanding and processing information quickly and independently to be able to make decisions not just on the minor details, but also for the bigger picture. The work you will do will need to be shared amongst the team and the wider business which will require you to have excellent ability in written and verbal communication, including technical reports.

- Creating procedures and support the development of PFDs, P&IDs, and supporting process data sheets for major process equipment
- Process modelling of complex power generation systems and development of subsequent Heat & Mass balances
- Ensuring that designs are appropriately validated (by computation or experiment), working with engineering analysts as necessary, and ensure appropriate adherence to international and fusion-specific design standards
- Adhering to, and ensure staff under their supervision adhere to, group, departmental and organisational management systems
- Raising the standard for Group competences and be proactive in defining new systems or processes that enhance the productivity of the Group or the wider organisation
