BAC Hams Hall is a JLR facility responsible for supplying Solihull the EBC21 Traction Battery Pack powering the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Plug in Hybrid vehicles.

Within the plant there are a number of production lines that utilise the latest technology to manufacture and assemble our EBC21 battery packs. The lines are as follows; Module, Frame, Coating, Pack.
 
 As Senior Process Engineer within the BAC Manufacturing Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for developing & leading a highly motivated team responsible for the manufacturing processes of our lines.

The scope of the role is to- 

Ø    Evaluate & Cost Engineering Change Requests

Ø    Successfully introduce new products or existing product changes into Operations production lines through complex project management. 

Ø    Support Operations in the prompt reaction to urgent SQDCPE issues effecting production.

Ø    Drive continuous improvement to enable Manufacturing Engineering & Operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People & Environment score card targets.

Ø    Lead other process engineers to deliver the vision of the function and achieve BAC goals and objectives

In doing so, you’ll play an integral part in the development of our plants, products and future of JLR Powertrain.

Key Responsibilities   

Leading the planning, process design, development and production support of the BAC’s production facilities, that meet our quality, volume and cost goals whilst delivering operational excellence.

• Leading the technical support and continuous improvement of our production lines, tools & assembly systems covering a wide range of processes including
o Various automated and manual assembly operations, including welding, adhesives and fasteners
o Defining and delivering of the central metrology systems & line side gauging supporting the product design.
o Defining and delivery of optimised tooling used to generate the product design.
o Process design including automation system development / delivery
• Leading a team responsible for installing, commissioning and launching production processes
• Leading the development of standardised process strategies and procedures
• Identifying and driving robust resolution of product design manufacturing feasibility & manufacturing process issues
• Introducing innovative new technologies into our manufacturing processes to improve safety, productivity, quality & cost metrics
• Driving continuous improvements in investment efficiency, process stability and robustness, flexibility & manufacturing cost per unit within and between powertrain programs
 • Maintaining process documentation to comply with international quality standards

Skills, experience and qualifications required  

• You’ll have a strong track record of being part of and leading a team and projects to meet tough deliverables in manufacturing or associated disciplines and have an appropriate engineering degree or equivalent qualification &/or proven experience of working in a manufacturing environment, ideally in Battery Assembly Centres.
• Knowledge of manufacturing assembly processes including welding, adhesives, fasteners etc. is essential
• Experience of facility installation; commissioning and launch would be highly desirable.
• You have the ability to interrogate data and make informed data based decisions.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control
• Ability to understand complex engineering drawings & tolerances
 •CAD / Catia Experience (Desirable)
