As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be a subject matter expert and coach for ensuring robust engineering design through Jaguar Land Rover’s Product Development Process. Your role will be to join the Engineering Excellence team to support our Engineering Quality strategy to become the automotive industry world leader by setting benchmarks in Quality, Satisfaction and Reliability through sustainable and innovative luxury products.

• Forward model programme quality metrics for DFMEA, DRBFM & Evidence Based Engineering Review EBER
• Quality team efficiency improvement
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Systems Engineering & Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) process development
• Support application of Failure Mode Avoidance / Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) in a Systems Engineering context
• Coach and mentor individual candidates or teams of employees on Failure Mode Avoidance / DFSS method & tool selection and application on existing projects
• Lead transformation projects to improve Systems Engineering & Failure Mode Avoidance processes across Product Engineering
• Provide technical expertise for the application and integration of Failure Mode Avoidance / DFSS into new and existing Systems Engineering processes where appropriate
• Keep up to date with Failure Avoidance / DFSS research through links with our academic partners
• Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
• Significant experience in Failure Mode Avoidance / DFSS in a large multi-national organisation.
• Some experience with Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (BoK) or equivalent Model Based System Engineering
• Certified Black Belt as a minimum
• Extensive experience of increasing responsibility in a variety of Product Engineering environments focused primarily on complex electro-mechanical-software integrated product architectures used in the automotive industry
• Significant experience in supporting Product Development projects and organisations from concept to launch
• Ability to evaluate and align Failure Mode Avoidance / DFSS practices with Quality Management System standards and requirements; defend actions and results under audit if required.
• Demonstrated communication skills: ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
• Strong people and leadership skills, with the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable:
• Degree in relevant engineering discipline or in associated subjects such as electronics, electrical engineering or other technical qualifications.
• Coaching and application in applied statistics; ability to teach and explain practical use of statistical methods in a product development context (Taguchi, DOE, ANOVA, Sample Size Selection, Monte Carlo Simulations, MSA, etc.,)
• Hardware and Software development experience using AGILE approaches (e.g. SCRUM, Lean, Feature-Driven) in the automotive industry
