Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer - DASS

Location: Warton - We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: £45,326 - £49,834 (Commensurate with skills and experience)

What you'll be doing:

  • You will support the review of System/Sub-System problem reports resulting from various sources such as System Integration rigs and Flight Testing. You will document the analysis/results and maintain accurate logs and status information
  • You will also support team & stakeholder formal reviews in order to ensure the correct implementation of requirements from subsequent design phases whilst maintaining compliance with other Requirements within the wider team
  • You will be responsible for the analysis of Sub-System failure cases, capturing resultant hazards and intended mitigation
  • In this role, you may be required to lead a small team of Systems Engineers, conducting all required annual appraisals and other associated duties

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • A degree in a STEM subject (or equivalent demonstrable and relevant experience)
  • Experience of Design Tools/ methodology (e.g., Statemate, Artisan, Rhapsody, UML & Doors)
  • Capable of deriving system requirements from higher level requirements (Customer etc.)
  • Capable of working within agreed standards and procedures and understand the importance of configuration control. Must have previously demonstrated an ability to meet milestones whilst achieving the required level of quality

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with equipment ICD's and definition of Logical signal level information would be advantageous and knowledge of Defensive Aids in Avionics would be desirable
  • Knowledge of the process for Hazard analysis (including Analysis Tool e.g., Fault Tree+) would be preferable

The Typhoon Avionics DASS team:

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has a risen within The Typhoon Avionics Systems Team at BAE Systems for a Senior Systems Engineer - Defensive Aids Sub Systems (DASS). In this dynamic, high performing and growing team you will be responsible for the production and maintenance of the DASS Functional Requirements Document, which captures the functional behaviour of the subsystem equipment (including interfaces) required to achieve the aircraft functionality that each Customer has specified to meet their Defence needs.

This varied and exciting role will have you interfacing with the customers directly. You will have access to ACR (Active Cockpit Rig/ desktop virtual rig), gaining an insight into how customers want to operate the platform/ product. You will also be joining a multi-national/ multi-cultural organisation with the opportunity to develop skill sets in Engineering and Project Management, with some opportunities for overseas travel.

The scope of this role means you will be a good communicator, comfortable in technical meetings with a structured approach to solving complex problems. Experienced and capable of working within agreed standards and procedures, with a clear understanding of the importance of configuration control.
