WHAT TO EXPECT
 As a Body in White (BIW) Shift Engineer in the Current Manufacturing Engineering (CME) Department, you will support the ongoing development and delivery of current vehicles into production. CME are responsible for all elements of Dimensional Quality, such as product integrity and customer compliance, adhering to the Measurement and Metrology strategy for the vehicle, responsible for the quality control of the product.  

The role encompasses dealing with all of production from BIW, Stampings to Trim & Final Assembly, Maintenance, PVT and SPQ. You will support production and have to deal with data and work proactively at times, with a hands-on problem-solving approach. 

This role is a shift role currently working 3 shifts (mornings, afternoon and nights).

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Support their Lead Engineer or Line Manager on shift
  • Analysis of data for Manufacturing and Production build requirements
  • Liaise with colleagues in other department / disciplines
  • Identify technical issues and escalate where appropriate
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their Lead Engineer or Line Manager or Production Manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
 Essential

  • Degree / Higher National Certificate / Diploma in relevant Engineering discipline
  • General Understanding of Manufacturing Processes
  • Effective Communicator; Verbal and Written
  • Computer Literacy
  • Self-Motivated
  • Problem Solving Skills, 8D,PPS
  • Experience Statistical Analysis 

Desirable

  • General understanding of Automotive Manufacturing Processes (ideally BiW – Body-in-White)
  • Understanding of part/assembly Location Strategy Principals
  • Relevant Dimensional / Tooling Maturation experience
  • Metrology experience
  • Understanding of GD&T (Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Six Sigma Training
  • CAD Skills – Catia V5/V6  
  • CMM measurement, DDMS
