The Opportunity
In your role as a Software release lead engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end SW release to JLR manufacturing. You will work with all vehicle Programme teams, PVT and Finance to plan and review each SW release plan against each vehicle lines for every model year through JLR release process Concern and PACN. This requires attending regular meetings with Programme and PVT teams. You will be also responsible for the end-to-end line trial support and engineering build events, working closely with supplier, logistic and manufacturing for all vehicle lines and JLR manufacturing sites. You must have a strong leadership, communication skills, Infotainment SW development process and overall manufacturing release processes.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
● Work with Vehicle Programme and PVT teams to support JLR Concern, PACN and CRIDIX release.
● Attending regular meetings with Programme and PVT teams to explain release timing per each vehicle line, major changes, financial changes (QAF) and impact to manufacturing to get approvals.
● Working with supplier’s engineering and commercial teams to get FOSS, Support plan and EOL result for every SW release, and actively review and discuss to get approval from suppliers.
● Working with vehicle programme teams to understand upcoming engineering event builds and support from engineering side, including SW delivery timing discussion, SW re-flash plan, discussion for potential costs for reflash, part logistic and further discussion with MPL and manufacturing team.
● Work with Hardware team to understand software part-number structure per each SW release and may required to join meeting with integration and MPL team to review partnumbers for each vehicle build event.
● Working with supplier to discuss Line trial part volume and lead timing to support the line trial.
● Working with JLR PVT teams to agree line trial parts volumes and support plan.
● Working closely with other module team (for example Telematics) have dependency for Infotainment line trial to discuss part supply plan for the line trial.
● Raging Alerts via JLR WERs system for line trial
● Responsible for raising MMR (Material Movement Request) to request part logistic from supplier’s warehouse to each JLR manufacturing, including getting approval for MMR and end-to-end support for the part logistic discussion and monitoring part movement status.
● Working closely with PVT teams in each JLR manufacturing site to get Line trial approval from all sites. This needs regular discussion with PVT teams and will need to manage with all challenges with uncertain circumstances in manufacturing.
● Planning golden sample test parts build and delivery including raising PO and securing budget.
● Working with vehicle test team and rig test team to complete golden sample test for each SW release.
● Facilitate the resolution of SW release process with internal and external stakeholders.
● Lead a culture of data-driven development by ensuring timely and accurate data on program status is constantly available
● Preparing internal/external reports for the program gathering input from the relevant team leads and stakeholders
● Create and Monitor the program level databases (eg) JIRA, Confluence, Program Central, etc for accuracy and flag any discrepancies
● Interaction with multiple diverse stakeholders both locally and across the JLR global sites will be expected

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Key Skills Required:
Essential:
• Degree in Computer science, Business, or a related area
• Previous experience of relevant Agile & Software Project Management experience
• Previous experience as a Software Release engineer
• Experience using JLR/Ford WERS system
• Experience using JLR Concern and PACN release
• Relevant line manager experience as the role may require line management once established
• Working knowledge of scaled agile
• Knowledge of recognised project management methodologies – eg. - Agile, Lean, Waterfall
• Experience of managing projects & backlogs in tools such as Confluence & JIRA
• Experience in working across the full Software Development Life Cycle
• Ability to manage diverse teams and multiple priorities
• Experience in facilitating / leading large-scale innovation / planning workshops or similar events
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and focus on results/outcomes
• Strong oral and written communication
• Fluent knowledge of English
Desirable:
• PMP accreditation or project management qualifications like Prince2 are highly desirable
• Knowledge of the automotive industry desirable
