About the job

WHAT TO EXPECT

This role is within the Powertrain Energy Management Calibration Team. The role will focus on delivering a calibration for the starting features in support of the delivery of powertrain control module calibration releases.

Calibration engineers are responsible for calibration work package delivery under the technical guidance of the Calibration Lead Engineers and Calibration Subject Matter Experts. The Calibration Engineers report to the Group Leader on a management level. The role entails a wide variety of testing activities, utilising vehicles, rigs, and climatic chambers to characterise the respective behaviour of each Vehicle Line. The calibration is modified from the data gathered using engine-in-the-loop (EIL), Powertrain-in-the-loop (PiL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations and optimisation methodologies to meet the sub-system requirements and targets. This is followed by sign-off/DV activities and fleet analysis, to validate the calibration and to ensure the robustness of work packages to production level.

Day to day, the Starting Calibration Engineer will complete full preparation of test facility and/or test parts to enable effective and timely calibration delivery. You will need to provide technical expertise in the calibration of combustion and electric machine starting. You will need to collate, manipulate and interpret data which will be used to inform engineering decisions and create calibrations that are fully validated into the PCM master tune in line with the PT scorecard and will plan, coordinate and control the activities for a small team in order to achieve objectives.
