Your next role

At L3Harris in Brighton we are part of Release Systems and the Mission Avionics sector operating in the Aerospace domain. We are specialising in high performance electro-mechanical systems and pneumatic technology for airborne weapon carriage release. As a Stress Engineer, you will work within an IPT environment and liaise with a variety of experts to understand the complex mechanisms that are in the design phase. Hand calculations and stress analysis will be a major component of this role.

What the role will involve

If you’re invited to join our team of dedicated experts, the responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Conducting finite element analysis using ANSYS for structural dynamic analysis of individual parts and multi-body assemblies
  • Hand calculations based on strength of materials and structural mechanics theory
  • Communicating and presenting to the design teams

What you’ll bring

The role of Stress Engineer requires the following experience and skills:

  • Previous experience as a Stress Engineer
  • Must be able to conduct hand calculations based on strength of materials and structural mechanics theory
  • Current or recent experience with ANSYS or ANSYS Workbench
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or relevant degree
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office tools (Word, Power Point and Excel)

Desirable

  • Experience with Mathcad and Matlab
  • Experience with Solidworks
