WHAT TO EXPECT:
This role sits within the Engineering Laboratories – Major Simulators Team.
Major Simulators department is part of the Engineering Laboratories team working within the Engineering Operations business unit. This department is responsible for system and full vehicle verification, within a hydraulic test rig environment. This role will be within a team of Engineers and Fitter/Testers delivering system and vehicle level tests on time and to the correct quality, with the necessary escalation and reporting responsibilities.
An attention to detail and an understanding of rig testing and data analysis together with its interpretation are key skills for this role.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
• Work within the team to ensure successful test delivery, meeting customer timings and technical expectations.
• Explore opportunities to drive the technology and methods forward within the area.
• Ensure processes and activity comply with corporate quality standards including H&S.
• Prepare test specimens, carry out testing, de-prep after test and report out test results.
• Maintaining test facilities – support to ensure their compliance with internal and external audits.
• Drive resolution of issues and the reporting of relevant information and findings.
• Support installation and commissioning of new test rigs.
• Interpret data to investigate vehicle or system issues.
• Undertake any other work as directed by line manager in connection with their job as requested.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Essential:
• Experience in rig based, test and evaluation techniques relating to structural performance.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Ability to communicate at operational level and to direct management team.
• Proven experience in test facility and sample preparation.
• Knowledge and experience with a range of instrumentation and test equipment.
• Experience of test planning and management activity.
• Experience with MTS software packages (RPC Pro, Station Manager)
• Experience using data acquisition systems and control systems
• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency
Desirable:
• Understanding of active system technologies present on vehicle and subsystems.
• Awareness of data analysis methodologies.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, EC-PL, Risk Assessments and COSHH
• Experience with IPG Carmaker
