The role
The Supplier Quality Engineer will support Strategic and Operational Procurement and Projects departments in the delivery of the components that form LGE's cargo handling and fuel gas supply systems for gas carriers. To provide supplier quality assurance and control, ensuring LGE Supply Chain delivers high quality products in compliance with LGE standards and specifications and that meets our client's needs and contractual requirements while adhering to the applicable rules and regulations of the application, as well as working with suppliers to improve component quality and delivery.

Day to day reporting to the Programme Director and supporting Strategic and Operational Procurement functions, the main responsibility of this role is managing supplier quality for new and existing suppliers. You will also:

  • Support Projects team, Operational and Strategic procurement to ensure high quality products and workmanship from our global supply chain.
  • Assisting suppliers develop and maintain Component Quality Plans, as necessary.
  • Carry out quality system audits of new and existing suppliers.
  • Supporting supplier Root Cause Analysis, as required.
  • Raise Corrective Action Requests (CAR) and resolve with internal and external stakeholders. Verifying the implementation and effectiveness of supplier correction actions.
  • Review and approve supplier related quality documentations for example; ITPs, Quality Plans, welding documentation and welders qualifications.
  • Support the Procurement function with risk assessment / due diligence from ISO standards and technical capability.

This role is full time, Monday to Friday and is based in Rosyth with hybrid working arrangements - 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home. This role will require worldwide travels.

Experience of the Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Manufacturing / engineering or technical background with a knowledge of rotating machinery, welding, different grades of steel, ISO standards.
  • experience auditing HSEQ internal and external (suppliers / subcontractors) management systems.
  • Working knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Lead Auditor / Internal Auditor Certificate for QMS ISO 9001 would be beneficial.

Qualifications of the Supplier Quality Engineer:

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent and/or recognised Quality Management qualification.
  • Demonstrate experience in a Quality Assurance / Control and/or similar position
  • Incident investigation and root cause analysis qualifications.
  • Would be advantageous if there was an understanding of marine classification societies or knowledge of gas shipping industry.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
