The role
As a Supportability Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll provide technical guidance and support to the support supply chain and procurement across the Royal Navy Surface and Submarine fleets.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Manage technical queries - To be the initial focal point for all technical queries received in accordance with support supply contracts, interpreting technical Def standards/Mil Specifications and other relevant defence material specifications for contracted parts.
  • Manage obsolescence in accordance with individual contracted requirements.
  • Source and interpret the available design data for the manufacture and support of equipment.
  • Review and clarify suppliers' responses to enquiries ensuring technical and contractual compliance is achieved.
  • Provide technical advice including the development of action plans aligned to Support Engineering's governance and delegations.

This role is full-time, working 37-hours per week and will be based onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard or Babcock Technology Centre with hybrid working from home arrangements.

Essential experience of the Supportability Engineer:

  • You will have demonstratable experience of working within equipment support operations or an applicable engineering field, ideally with a Naval orientation.
  • You must possess good organisational skills and be computer literate, with a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Excel.


Qualifications for the Supportability Engineer:

  • An HNC level qualification or applicable equivalent experience, as a minimum in an engineering subject.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
