The role
As a Surface Preservation Specialist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role has the opportunity to work on highly complex and interesting projects, you will gain wide exposure to Submarine business, liaising with various teams across multiple projects.

Day to day, you'll be using your experience of submarine maintenance, or build projects to assist in the development of project management output, e.g. project plans, metrics, task procedures.

  • Supporting the development of the project schedule through close cooperation with the project team.
  • Technical assessment for coating tasks (blasting / painting / surface preparation) included in the projects scope.
  • Identification of key risks, issues, materials, and equipment required for mechanical based tasks.
  • Utilising experience from previous projects and submarine enterprise to improve project planning and delivery.
  • Undertaking visits to submarine platforms to assess mechanical based tasks.

This role is full time, 36 hours based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard with hybrid working from home arrangements.

Essential experience of the Surface Preservation Specialist

  • Experience in surface preservation and repair within a marine environment.
  • An excellent understanding of health and safety.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with key stakeholders.
  • Experience working with or for a marine support service contractors such as cleaning, surface preparation or scaffolding etc.
  • Experience of planning and working within confined or enclosed spaces would be beneficial.
  • Experience in the planning of engineering projects - Desirable.

Qualifications for the Surface Preservation Specialist

  • HNC in Engineering (or equivalent) - Desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
