WHAT TO EXPECT 

 

The Solution Architect will own the technical delivery of Suspension Systems. This is one of the most visible, technically challenging and broad roles in Chassis Engineering. The successful candidate will own the target decomposition from vehicle level (Vehicle Dynamics, Off Road performance, Noise Vibration and Harshness amongst others) through system and component and lead the process of achieving compatibility. The Solution Architect will ensure the delivery of system attribute targets from Concept through to Production. This person will push forward the engineering capability within Jaguar Land Rover


 Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Liaise and arbitrate with attribute teams to deliver suspension system vertical isolation targets
  • Interact cross functionally to ensure suspension system has entitlement to meet all vehicle level targets
  • Ensure engineering accounts for platform/architecture bandwidths for robust delivery
  • Act as the main link for all the stakeholders within the function, and for the content from outside functions
  • Support of vehicle target decomposition vehicle to system for the function
  • Owner of the system targets, responsible of sub-system targets cascade
  • Key responsibility is balance of targets between function and attributes, either where there is conflict or to achieve best balance
  • Leading vehicle suspension problem resolution root cause analysis
  • Utilise system level CAE tools for early concept definition, system performance measurement and tuning
  • Co-developing the non-geometric data to support suspension system tuning work
  • Own the system analysis for variability for both CAE, rig testing and analysis of production vehicle build data
  • Report suspension system targets status at regular Agile reviews
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

 

WHAT YOU NEED


 Knowledge and experience

 

Essential:

  • First Principles led engineering – able to decompose complex physical problems into constituent parts and describe/derive solutions mathematically.
  • Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics theory
  • Understanding of Vibration, linear systems & dynamics
  • Communication – able to describe complex problems in straight forward, clear terms
  • Delegate – able to share work across a team to maximise output & robustness of engineering work.

 

 

Desirable:

  • Degree In Mechanical (or automotive) Engineering, Masters preferable.
  • Proven high performance in industry and/or academia
  • Understanding of System Engineering and target decomposition
  • Matlab (or Python etc) user
  • Multi-Body-Simulation experience
  • Capability analysis and Minitab experience
  • Experience Developing Suspension Systems
  • Vehicle Dynamics Development experience
  • Noise, Vibration & Harshness engineering experience
