About the job

We’re re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

Software Over the Air (SOTA) was first launched on the 2020 Land Rover Defender and is being rolled out across to all vehicles with the aim of eventually supporting all of the vehicle’s ECUs. Features Over the Air (FOTA) will allow the user to add new functionality to their vehicle as it becomes available or as they need it (on a subscription basis, for example). Connected Diagnostics Services (diagnostics over-the-air) will support of remote prognosis, diagnosis and even correction of erroneous vehicle behaviour without the need to visit service and the long-term monitoring of whole vehicle fleet performance.

The Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics System Engineer will report to the Senior System Architect and be part of a multi-disciplinary systems engineering team which are responsible for the functional and behavioural definition of OTA functionality for current and future vehicle architectures, both “On-Board” the vehicle and Off-Board in Cloud environments.  The Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics System Engineer will support the generation and maintenance of the SOTA and CDS requirements in the Traceable Requirements Management system (TRM) and model-based engineering tools (Catia Magic Systems) and ensure that requirements meet the required quality standards for content and traceability.

As a System Engineer, you will contribute to system requirements definition and review on time and with acceptable quality, as well as architectural model definition and review on time and with acceptable quality. You will also produce regular metrics for system engineering work products status, traceability and quality measures as well as contribute to failure mode analysis on time and in accordance with company processes and functional safety analysis on time and in accordance with company processes.

The successful candidate will be:

•Authoring system and component level requirements for the selected architecture.

•Maintaining requirement quality and traceability.

•Generating change request documentation for internal and external suppliers.

•Supporting failure mode analysis for the selected architecture.

•Supporting functional safety analysis for the selected architecture.

•Generating and maintaining SysML/UML Models for selected architecture.

•Participating in design and quality reviews with internal / external suppliers and teams.
