The role
As a Senior Systems Engineer - Tactical Communications, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will provide key experience to a fast-moving team, bidding for the Army Collective Training Service (ACTS) opportunity. You will be a technical reference point for non-technical leaders, collaborate on solution development, write regular reports, and contribute to presentations on technical solutions.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Be expected to provide expertise in the support of ACTS and other related projects and programme within the team.
  • Work with the Customer and attending working groups to generate Concept of Operations and User Needs.
  • Be involved in requirement, extraction, assessment, management, justification, and decomposition.
  • Manage interfaces and trade-offs between systems, sub systems, functions, and requirements.
  • Apply best placed systems engineering practices and systems thinking to develop solutions.

This role is a full time position at 37 hours per week and will be based at our Ashton House site in Bristol with hybrid working from home arrangements 2-3 days per week. There is a requirement to travel to our customer location in Portsmouth as part of the role.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer - Tactical Communications:

  • Demonstrable stakeholder management skills and the ability to relay technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Requirements capture, derivation and management.
  • Experience of Systems Engineering, Requirements and Acceptance V-Model, ITEAP, Engineering Lifecycle Management, etc.
  • Systems architecture and experience in leading small team and projects.
  • It would be beneficial to have had experience working for or with the Army.

Qualifications for the Senior Systems Engineer - Tactical Communications:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline. However, candidates without this qualification will be considered if they can demonstrate considerable relevant or equivalent experience.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
