The role
As a Strategic Systems Engineers you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As an engineer within the Mission Systems team, you will work within the Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) Directorate, a centre of excellence for Babcock's professional engineering capability. You'll be supporting Naval programmes while proactively improving arrangements, and ultimately upholding the UK's Continuous at Sea Deterrent.

Day to day, you'll be part of the Ballistic Submarine programme, working on the largest project in UK Defence, and collaborating with counterparts throughout the business enterprise. Playing a vital part in the development of solutions to assure the availability of the SSBN fleet and aiding the delivery of Dreadnought submarines into service.
* Working closely with the Ministry of Defence Project Teams, aiding them with in the areas of Systems Integration, Safety, and the Change Management of SSBN systems.
* In collaboration with the Project team, revising essential documentation detailing their engineering processes and procedures.
* Providing crucial engineering knowledge and judgement on undertaken work.

Essential experience of the Strategic Systems Engineers
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Understanding of life cycle management, from concept through to disposal.
* Working within engineering teams in the defence or aerospace environment or having worked previously in the MOD or Royal Navy.
* Operating independently when required.

A full-time (36 hours a week) hybrid role allowing work from the office or from home with opportunities for travel in UK.

Qualifications for the Strategic Systems Engineers
* Must be qualified to a minimum of Level 6 in a STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, System, Data Management or Mathematics). Experience in lieu of formal education will be considered.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
