WHAT TO EXPECT

The Electric Drive Unit (EDU) Controls team is responsible for delivering robust EDU control systems to the Jaguar Land Rover business. Within this remit, the team holds responsibility for the Controls System Architecture of the EDU.  We are recruiting a System Engineer to join the team and help with the delivery of these objectives.

As a Systems Engineer, you will take on the role of defining requirements and interfaces with our suppliers and partners and also creating integration and verification plans in close collaboration with involved disciplines. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and experience in working across departmental and cultural barriers and building strong delivery-orientated teams.

The System Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of  EDU systems across the range of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles. You will assist and contribute to the generation of targets and verification methods that are driven by Customer, Function Requirements, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and will contribute to the delivery of the area onto all programmes, in line with the Systems Engineering discipline outlined by Product Creation Systems. You will provide technical support and assistance across the operational team on topics relating to the integration and harmonisation of multiple interconnected components including issue resolution and objective data analysis, and will support EDU System test team by ensuring testability of cascaded requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As a System Engineer, you will have the ability to work with rapidly evolving technology and will be an effective team player who supports team members. You will be a self-starter and be able to show initiative.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential:

• Good relevant experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment - ideally within the Automotive Sector
• Experience within Model based engineering (MBE)
• Requirements Management (RM) experience
• Good verbal and written communications
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Track record as an effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
• Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance
• Qualified to degree level in an engineering discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent levels of training & experience

Desirable:

• Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
• Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML ideally with IBM Rational Rhapsody or Catia Magic
• Experience in IBM Rational DOORS
