About the role:

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Software Operations Team in Crawley. You will work with and support key business functions including Bid Capture Management, Programme Management, Product Management and Engineering. Responsible for supporting Engineering bids and procurements for a range of Commercial Flight Simulation Training Devices, ensuring appropriate solutions meet core requirements, quality, cost and delivery schedules.

 

Day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for managing all new bids and proposal requests for Engineering
  • The role involves working closely with Engineering Function Leads, Bid Managers, Sales Directors, Sourcing Managers, Programme Managers and Customer Support to elicit requirements and present suitable solutions with cost estimations for gate review
  • Coordinate suitable solution orientation reviews, concept design reviews and trade studies during pre-acquisition and acquisition stages of the project lifecycle
  • Attend Design Reviews and determine planned change and product evolutions
  • Attend Product and Programme Launch Meetings
  • Conduct Trade Studies and understand budgets
  • Produce Statements of Work and Delivery Schedules
  • Participate in retrospective product reviews and lessons learnt reviews
  • Support Systems Engineering processes for novel and complex system designs

 Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

  • A significant technical experience in aircraft simulation, commercial aircraft or similar technical field
  • Experience of modern computers and software including PC's, Windows, current company standard office software, and planning software.
  • Experience of development lifecycles, systems engineering, formal testing, and verification & validation.
  • Experience with agile development is desirable
  • Experience with top-down, bottom-up and parametric estimation techniques
  • Experience with requirements elicitation and requirements management
  • Experience of real time software programming and integration
  • Strong leadership, communication and inter-personal skills
  • A demonstrably high degree of technical expertise, problem solving skills, and innovation for areas of high complexity on novel developments
  • Flexible with working hours as required to meet programme needs
  • Able to work effectively when under pressure
  • A suitable degree or equivalent (with maths, science or engineering content), or significant appropriate experience in industry.
