The role

As a technician you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Babcock Mission Systems is growing, and we need you to support us delivering the next generation of Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) Radio Frequency (RF) Communications solutions for a variety of national and international customers.

Day to day, you'll carry out routine maintenance activities on site and provide a first response to technical issues on site equipment as prompted by alarms.

  • Carrying out operational engineering duties on site.
  • Be the first line response to technical issues on site following simple basic procedures and working with Telephone support from Engineers as appropriate.
  • Support the engineering team in all operational and technical matters.
  • To maintain technical and administrative records and provide information as required.
  • Carry out lone working, in accordance with Babcock Health and Safety instructions
  • An adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities, observing safe working practices as advised and instructed
  • Be proactive in the Safety & Health of self and others who may be affected by work activities.

Essential experience of the Technician:

  • Electronic principles knowledge
  • Working with hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety rules
  • Possess basic knowledge of data communications and networking technologies

This role is based on site at Skelton, full-time position at 37 hours per week. The role works as a 24/7 shift rota (including morning, evening, and night shifts) to carry out round the clock engineering support and helpdesk duties.

Qualifications for the Technician:

  • NVQ in electrical/electronic subject (OR Maths or Physics GCSE grade A-C)
  • Full UK driving licence.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who holds, or has the ability to achieve DV security clearance.
