The role

Babcock have been awarded the contract to run and modernised the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet. As part of this programme, we are looking for an experience Telecoms engineer with current expertise in the design and implementation of Internet Protocol (IP) networks.

  • Day to day, you'll lead the design of new IP and VoIP system, and upgrades to current infrastructure, to deliver new service capability.
  • Ensuring new services and systems meet UK security requirements.
  • Managing obsolescence within the existing system to ensure the system remains supportable and compliant to security requirements.
  • Managing the installation and configuration of new system elements.
  • Test and commissioning of new equipment and services.
  • Providing third line support to operations teams.

This role is on a full time, permanent basis (37 hours per week) and will be based at either of our Bristol or Corsham sites. We offer hybrid/agile working with a requirement to be on site 2 days per week.

Essential experience of the Telecommunications Engineer

  • Cisco accreditation at least CCNA, CCNP preferred.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of IP communication networks.
  • Knowledge of VoIP network architectures
  • Have worked at a telecoms or satellite communication company.

Qualifications for the Telecommunications Engineer:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering Discipline

Please note that this position is subject to enhanced national security vetting. The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements (this may include obtaining SC, NNPPI or Developed Vetting (DV) level of security clearances).
