Job Title: Telecommunications Project Engineer Splicing Supervisor (Contractor role)

Salary: up to £56,420 per annum (represents a £310 day rate)

Location: Flexible due to nationwide travel requirements

Job Type: Full Time/12 months contract

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends
  • Travel required for the role (having your own vehicle is essential)

About the role:

The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and assistance as directed by the Project Manager to the office team for the design and planning of delivery phases, support of the field teams (remote & on Site) with deployment activities as well as providing input for reporting purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • NRSWA supervisor or equivalent
  • Oversee all fibre splicing activity
  • Experienced with fibre testing equipment
  • Schedule work with Nokia and Field Engineers
  • Assess work for TM/PM and liaise with suppliers
  • Obtain quotes for labour and traffic management when necessary and process
  • Review all works and assist with post activity questions
  • Support field engineers for both fibre and data equipment installation at customer sites
  • Experienced with the installation of data racks in a Telecoms environment
  • Experienced with the installation and testing of routers/switches in a Telecoms environment
  • Experienced with the installation and testing of data/fibre cables in a Telecoms environment
  • Stage/ commissioning of routers and switches
  • Work in progress and Post activity audits of work

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate will have a strong, proven knowledge of fibre technologies and techniques used for splicing and use of OTDR, IOLM and CD/PMD testing, being able to interpret results and act upon them to rectify issues.

Strong organisation skills to manage and schedule works in line with client requirements and understand technical diagrams of circuit builds.

Candidate will assist the Project Managers and Senior Project engineer with support of the data engineers daily work streams of both fibre and data works on and off site. Experience of multi-vendor routing and switch environments and commissioning skills an advantage.

  • Must have held a similar position previously. (E).
  • Have proven experience in telecoms industry. (E).
  • Hold a formal project management qualification. (D).
