About the job

WHAT TO EXPECT

This is where it all begins. We develop the new concepts that go on to become new Jaguars and Land Rovers. So, the emphasis is on building strong strategic, technical and financial foundations right from the start.

The Advanced Automation Systems team is part of the Powertrain Build and Test Operations (PBTO) department within Engineering Operations (EO). The team is responsible for supporting the development and operation of world-class test bed automation systems across Jaguar Land Rover's powertrain test facilities. This entails developing, maintaining, and integrating the powertrain test automation toolchain, and preparing automated test routines to ensure a consistent, high-quality, and standardized approach across JLR's powertrain test facilities. The goal is to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the powertrain test field, enabling the achievement of annual run hours, DVP delivery, and data quality objectives.

The current scope of the team includes automating testing across Engine (ICE), full 4x4 powertrain PiL & ViL, EDU and E-Machine rigs, Inverter rigs, and Chassis Dyno test cells, with a significant focus on supporting the implementation of new powertrain test rigs as JLR continues to migrate to an electrified future.

The Test Automation Engineer role will focus on developing and supporting the automated operation of allocated test facilities, enabling and optimizing the delivery of timely and quality-assured test data in support of the development and design verification (DV) of JLR's powertrain systems. Key activities will include test bed control system configuration, test bed commissioning, test requirement interpretation, test automation, and day-to-day test automation system issue resolution and enhancements to maintain effective work.
