WHAT YOU’LL DO :
This role is based within Component and Sub-System Testing (CST) in Jaguar Land Rover’s Engineering Laboratories, a collection of world-class, cutting-edge testing facilities. CST plays an integral part in physical Verification & Validation (V&V) within the JLR systems engineering landscape, directly influencing the delivery of the world’s most desirable vehicles such as Range Rover and Defender.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Complete physical test in accordance with JLR testing standards and procedure, keeping in line with program gateways and timings.
• Collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders during CST V&V activity i.e. customers, subject matter experts, test engineers & technicians, rig design & manufacture engineers etc.
• Ensure appropriate data collection and measurement; also collate, manipulate and interpret data which will be used to inform engineering decisions.
• Ensure accuracy and operation of test of measurement equipment.
• Take ownership of data quality and performance reporting for measurement equipment and capability.
• Produce and communicate test results & technical reports.
• Complete full preparation of test facility and/or test parts to enable effective timely data delivery.
• Assist in the continual improvement of test tools and procedures to enhance the CST service offering.
• Identify fault report and, where possible, rectification to ensure minimum down time.
• Support continuous improvement activity with the goal of improving test efficiency and/or product quality.
• Support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, such as TS16949, OHSAS18001, ISO 14001.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
• A structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
• The ability to validate, prepare and read engineering documents.
• The ability to compile technical reports.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office competency, to produce plans, presentations and graphs.
• Ability to acquire and interpret data utilising data acquisition tools.
• General and practical understanding of physical vehicle systems.
• Awareness of test facility operations and health and safety surrounding a laboratory environment.
• Good communication skills, both within immediate team and with other departments.
Desirable:
• Experience utilising mechatronic control systems to support test activity.
• Experience executing vehicle component & sub-system level test activities according to defined test procedures.
• Knowledge of instrumentation calibration processes.
• Awareness of programming/scripting languages.
• Awareness of risk assessment, COSHH and compliance management systems TS16949/ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001
• Awareness of quality and lean process.
