The role
As a Trainee Commissioning Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you'll be part of a small team of Engineers, assisting in the management of team training and competencies, test equipment management and diagnostics support on HM Warships Marine Systems.

Day-to-day, you'll assist with inspections, testing and diagnostics.

  • Liaise with both Royal Navy and Project staff daily
  • Write test documentation when required

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the Trainee Commissioning Engineer:

  • Knowledge of ship systems/equipment - for in service vessels - Type 23/Type 45/LPD's
  • Experience of commissioning process advantageous
  • Knowledge of commissioning documentation including test form process
  • Knowledge of GFE and processes advantageous
  • Competent with Office suite - Word, Excel etc. (other software training will be given as required)


Qualifications for the Trainee Commissioning Engineer:

  • Time served Apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • ONC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, a lower level of qualification may be acceptable provided the post holder has substantial and relevant experience

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
