The Role

As a Trials Conducting Officer (TCO), you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary, working with a range of incredibly exciting and varied trials for the Ministry of Defence. You'll be working with air and land targets for defence test and evaluation capability, reporting into the Operations Conductor and be responsible for the safe conduct of trials.

Day-to-Day, you'll:

  • Safely conduct trials, adhering to Trial Conduct Documents, Site Operations Procedures (SOP's), and safety procedures.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety requirements during trials, including the ability to halt activities if safety concerns arise.
  • Maintain essential documentation, including the Test and Evaluation Resrearch and Proof using the Ranges Log.

Working arrangements are full-time onsite at Benbecula during trial days, typically 08:30 to 17:00. With flexibility to hybrid working outside of trials.


Essential Experience of the Trials Conduct Officer

  • Strength of Character and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to make quick safety-related decisions
  • A technical background in a related field such as engineering or electronic instrumentation


Essential Qualifications of the Trials Conduct Officer

  • An awareness of safety considerations (open to a range of backgrounds)
  • A willingness to undergo training with hands-on and course-based learning
  • A relevant level of study, ideally within a technical background (consideration to NVQ, apprentice or graduate)
