This role focuses on the technical definition and application of an exciting breadth of new technologies and vehicle concepts.

The role will work on the whole vehicle engineering and integration and will have exposure to the key areas that influence vehicle technology development, interacting across engineering functions and attribute teams.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

As an Architecture Lead Engineer, you will liaise and interface with multiple functions to identify, define & develop high value customer innovations - compile robust assumptions, and data to develop the requirements and features chosen for implementation on/in the architecture.

You will radically simplify our technology toolkit and technical delivery activities, and throughout the engineering gateways act as guardian for strategic architecture ‘DNA’:

  • Define clear & compatible assumptions
  • Champion transformative attribute strategies & future technologies
  • Work on the successful resolution of technical conflicts to ensure closed loop control & adherence to architecture bandwidth & assumptions
  • Report out in key technical meetings ensuring technologies and products will meet requirements

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As a Vehicle Architecture Lead Engineer, you will be driven to deliver experiences that are personalised, transparent and dependable. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently; results driven and tenacious, resilient and enthusiastic; responding constructively to new ideas and inputs. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to concisely communicate complex ideas.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Technical knowledge and extensive experience of key whole vehicle systems and interactions
  • Significant experience of technical analysis and demonstration of employing best-in-class processes wherever possible
  • Experience delivering and optimising innovative customer product solutions
  • Proven ability to work with technical data and combine business skills with technical decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication, influencing and negotiating skills
  • High level of IT literacy incl project planning & visualisation techniques and the ability to present data clearly and precisely to support decision making
  • Familiarity with use of 3D CAD systems and technology benchmarking approaches & resources
  • Project management experience including the ability to help deliver against complex project demands
  • Adaptable style, able to deliver strategic initiatives, planned projects and reactive tactical studies
  • Relevant degree and experience in engineering or another highly technical discipline
  • Knowledge of the broader industry including brands, mega trends, products and customer needs
  • Thrive on change and be committed to transforming customer experiences and growing our business

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of programme & project delivery processes
  • Experience of Agile scaling or scrum methods, JIRA & Confluence, SAFe®
  • Aiming for (or achieved) chartered status, and seeking necessary broader business experience
