The role
As a Vehicle Fitter, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will support the Engineering Regiment at RAF Wyton

Day to day, you'll carry out level 1 & 2 maintenance (which consists of before use inspections, fluid level checks, oil can lubrication, greasing where required and minor repair tasks) on military vehicles and equipment as specified in publications for the vehicle types, as well as:

  • Raise and clear documentation in support of maintenance tasks.
  • Ordering of service items and spare parts.
  • Drive, control, operate and maintain vehicles for which qualified.
  • Use Company or Authority provided tools and equipment safely in accordance with authorised procedures
  • Carry out competent person Inspections on Station Racking. (Training to be provided for successful candidate).

This role is full time and based onsite at RAF Wyton.

Essential experience of the Vehicle Fitter:

  • Good knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment and Fire (SHEF) practices and procedures
  • Familiar with Military and/or MOD practices and procedures
  • Good interpersonal skills and computer literate
  • Proven organisational skills.
  • Have the ability to work unsupervised and the ability to use your own initiative with defined guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels; verbal and written.

Qualifications for the Vehicle Fitter:

  • City and Guilds level 1 & 2 or NVQ equivalent in Vehicle Mechanical Engineering or proven experience in the Mechanical Engineering Industry or the Armed Forces.
  • Hold a full UK CAT C driving licence.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve the minimum of a SC security clearance for this role.
