The Vendor Tooling Department is a subdivision of the Cost Engineering function within the Finance Department and is responsible for ensuring the correct use of Jaguar Land Rover funds appertaining to all aspects of supplier-based tooling in line with product aspirations.

Cost Engineering is an exciting department that plays a key role in our business; it is driven by a passion to deliver profitable growth, by partnering the business in all our operational functions (principally Product Development, Advanced Product Creation, Finance and Purchasing).

As a Vendor Tooling Cost Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team focused on specific vehicle commodities associated with one of several teams:

You’ll be responsible for delivering ‘vendor tooling should cost’ estimates for a specific sub-set of parts along with Vendor Tooling cost and content sign off and Cost Interrogation and Supplier/ Toolmaker negotiation. You’ll be accountable for commercial activity and supporting the Purchase team in their negotiations with suppliers as well as influencing programme affordability by identifying & pursuing volume appropriate tooling solutions.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

To perform this position successfully you’ll need the ability to understand Tool & Component Design and have Production Process Manufacturing Experience. You’ll also require effective cross-functional team working experience and influencing skills to manage the activities with a good level of independence. The ability to manage, maintain and utilise data to support cost activities will also be necessary.
