The role
As a Vessel Engineering Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will lead and manage a team of Delivery Co-ordinators to deliver Fleet Engineering work packages identifying and specifying resource demand. Providing a clear interface between the execution of work by the Fleet Engineering team and Fleet Programme Team

Day to day, you'll lead, develop and direct a team of 50 - 75 employees, including Delivery Co-ordinators and Industrial workers to achieve their part of the project and all operations business performance metrics (safety, cost, schedule, quality).

  • Work with Fleet Programmes and Delivery Ashore Teams to develop and manage demand profiles for internal resources and external subcontractors to satisfy project requirement and any changes within the project.
  • Apply technical expertise and ensure quality standards are achieved across the project and ensure that learning from experience is shared across the Delivery and Fleet Programme teams, through effective team working and/or sharing of resource.
  • Promote a safety culture and compliance with all company health, safety and environmental legislation in line with ISO standards.
  • Create and maintain an environment of continuous quality, process improvement and employee participation within their delivery team, with a focus on developing and employing standardised systems and processes throughout and across projects.

This role is full time, 37 hours, 4.5 days a week. Based at our Faslane, Clyde site.

Essential experience of the Vessel Engineering Manager:

  • Experience in the management of multiple engineering teams of various trades, on large scale complex projects often running simultaneously - including the performance, conduct, development, and training of teams.
  • Ability to identify potential work packages suitable to the capabilities of the shift team, ensuring the overall performance is in line with agreed KPIs.
  • HR management experience of capability, absence management, recruitment support disciplinary and grievance processes - i.e. Demonstrable experience of the application of HR policies.
  • Leadership and coaching/mentoring with the ability to influence key stakeholders to ensure a positive safety culture and best practices.
  • Knowledge of the hazards associated with engineering teams on a safety critical site, ensuring the teams are complaint with all company and customer procedures/policies as well as any applicable statutory industry standards maintaining safety at all times.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
