WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Jaguar Land Rover is seeking a motivated individual to join us as a Water ingress Test Engineer at our Gaydon site.

You will be responsible to conduct vehicle testing activities against method and simulation standards that meet the needs of the customer engineers. As a test engineer, you will need to be aware of the facility’s capabilities and limitations and advise engineering appropriately. The Water Ingress area within the Climatic structure is responsible for conducting water test activities for Jaguar Land Rover and this involves operating internal and external facilities across different sites. These tests are conducted throughout the vehicle development cycle and will involve direct feedback to the COC via use of the AIMs and DART systems. You will assist your Lead Engineer with the general maintenance and upgrades to facilities. Your knowledge of the vehicle BIW (Body in White) will be continually developed in conjunction with the rest of the team, ultimately improving the quality of the vehicles and test standards to our simulation and capabilities.

Current operation of the Water ingress Laboratory is on a day shift. Responsibilities of this role includes but are not limited to:

  • Conduct Water Test activities throughout the vehicle development cycle.
  • Conduct investigations into water ingress issues using endoscope and cameras to locate water ingress issues detected during testing.
  • Plan and schedule vehicles into the water ingress facility and update the OBS planning spreadsheet.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated and in working order.
  • Conduct TPM on the water ingress facility, raising etrackers for significant maintenance issues.
  • Book external wade facilities, arrange transport for test vehicles and carry out associated wade test driving activities.
  • Support car wash and jet wash testing inc. booking of facilities.
  • Raise AIM’s and populate with all relevant information.
  • Raise Dart issues upon completion of testing.
  • Conduct reviews with COC’s and senior management upon completion of testing.
  • Support Engineering with development of resolutions to water ingress issues.
  • Schedule and populate DART system with test statuses and results.
  • Populate Dart with a technical test report.

 

 WHAT YOU WILL NEED

As a Water Ingress Test Engineer, you will have a detailed knowledge of Body and Trim strip down processes as well as CAD Integration skills. You will also have strong knowledge and experience of working in Water test environment, with a knowledge of test facilities (Monsoon and Carwash) and associated specifications.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Automotive, Mechanical, Electrical, or Body in White Engineering.
  • Skills in fault finding and resolution, problem analysis, and root-cause identification plus a methodical, logical approach to work.
  • Ability to use an endoscope and camera system’s associated with water ingress.
  • Direct experience of instrumentation calibration processes.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to plan and co-ordinate own workflow and achieve quality results.
  • Knowledge of company Health and Safety requirements, Risk Assessment and COSHH.
  • The individual needs to be flexible, enthusiastic, be able to work on their own initiative and to possess effective communication skills.
  • A full UK driving license and completion of JLR’s driver training.
  • Millbrook site induction and knowledge.
  • A practical hands-on approach to quickly diagnose issues and identify resolution.
