Job Title: Weapon System Algorithm Developer

Salary: circa £55,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Bristol (we may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 4 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

You will complement our team in developing algorithms for future weapon systems.  We are a specialist and forward-thinking team using product knowledge and system analysis to develop the algorithms that underpin the advanced capabilities of our weapon systems. To keep ahead of our rivals, we are always looking to the state of the art in algorithm technology. This includes an increasing adoption of methods that employ machine-learning and artificial intelligence.

What we're looking for from you:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop Algorithms and test them using mathematical/scientific programming tools such as Matlab/Simulink.
  • Interpret technical specifications and collaborate with other departments to understand how the algorithms will be used, and especially with the software team to define how they will be implemented.
  • Influence the way we develop algorithms within the team and more widely within MBDA.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality through progressive thinking and rigour.

Any experience in any of the following areas would be highly beneficial:

  • Mathematical modelling
  • Numerical simulation
  • Data Science
  • Geospatial data and/or geographical information systems
  • Software development
